How the ceramic element works

Electricity passes through a PTC (positive temperature coefficient) ceramic plate, which heats up very quickly and — by its physical properties — self-limits its own maximum temperature. A small fan pulls air across that plate and pushes it into the room, so warm air reaches you within seconds instead of waiting for metal or oil to slowly climb to temperature.

That self-regulating behaviour is also why ceramic units can maintain a cool-touch outer housing even while the internal element is hot — the ceramic plate doesn't run away in temperature the way a bare metal coil can.
